It’s Always A Special Occasion

I’ll save it for a “special occasion.”

The “it” could be using the fancy dishes, wearing that super cute outfit, drinking the bottle of champagne, or anything else you can think of.

I used to save a lot of things for a special occasion. One day I noticed all those things were sitting in my house unused, being wasted.

My aha moment!

One summer, me and a few of my friends decided to get together on a random weekday evening. I had a bottle of champagne that was given to me as a gift. Guess what I was doing? Saving it for a “special occasion.” I’d had it for over a year. What was I waiting on? I announced I was bringing champagne. I launched into this monologue about waiting for special occasions that never come because nothing is ever special enough until it’s over.

The fact that me and my friends were available at the same time on a random day during the week, at the last minute, was a special occasion.

Life moves so fast. As I get older I realize it’s more about experiencing the here and now.

Doing the things you love, with the people you love, is a special enough occasion.
